CARLES JOINS 3RD KANAWAY FESTIVAL
The Municipality of Carles thru the effort of the Municipal Mayor Arnold A. Betita in cooperation with the Tourism Department joins 3rd Kanaway Festival at Estancia, Iloilo, Philippines.
The 1st Kanaway Festival was celebrated at the Municipality of Lemery, Iloilo in the year 2010. The 2nd Kanaway Festival was then held at Estancia, Iloilo last year, 2011, where the Municipality of Carles joined and won 2nd place at the Tribe Dancing Competition.
Now, the 3rd Kanaway Festival will be held on March 1-4, 2012 still at Estancia, Iloilo. Eight performing tribes coming from different NIPSC colleges will battle to win the tribe dancing.
One of the highlights of the festival is the "Crafts, Trade & Food Fare" which will showcase various products, cultures and trades of the Municipalities from the 5th district of Iloilo. The trade is located along the highway infront of the Municipal Plaza. Carles Display Center is at Kiosk number 2.
The Municipality of Carles displays different crafts and products of the various barangays of Carles especially products from Islnad barangays such as coming from Gigantes Islands.
The tribe dancing competition will be held on March 4, 2012 to be held at NIPSC parade ground.
Festival is celebrated to commemorates cultures, histories, traditions and future innovations. It is a thanksgiving and a celebration of an abundant life through festivities.
